Entre Bridges, Firth y Clooney está el Oscar
Equiparables en tamaño y brillo. Si algo tienen en común los cinco galanes nominados en la categoría de Mejor Actor de los Oscar 2010 es que todos ostentan el papel de sus vidas. Las interpretaciones que hacen Jeff Bridges, George Clooney, Colin Firth, Morgan Freeman y Jeremy Renner, en cada una de las producciones que protagonizan, les dieron el puesto seguro en uno de los rubros principales de los premios de la Academia, que este domingo calmarán la curiosidad de miles de fanáticos.
La historia de un cantante de música country, quien se enamora en plena decadencia de su carrera, es el argumento de Crazy Heart y la oportunidad para un actor acostumbrado a estar en esta contienda gracias a viejas producciones (Candidata al Poder, Starman, Un Botín de 500 Mil Dólaresy La Última Película). Se dice que en la quinta estará la vencida, pues el veterano Jeff Bridges está dispuesto a conseguir su primer Oscar, tras quedarse por fuera en cuatro ocasiones. Ya se llevó el Globo de Oro al Mejor Actor de Drama y ahora todo parece apuntar a que también saldrá vencedor, al menos así lo confirman las webs especializadas de Estados Unidos.
Talento y popularidad
Muy cerca de Bridges se sitúa Colin Firth. El actor británico se destaca en el filme A Single Man,el debut en la dirección del diseñador de moda Tom Ford. Si bien la película es una producción profesional y buena en sí, merece ser vista principalmente por la excelente presencia de Firth en pantalla. Es él quien sustenta casi en exclusiva el peso dramático del relato, interpretando a un profesor universitario homosexual, que acaba de perder a su pareja en un accidente automovilístico. De momento es su mejor papel, lo que le da ciertas posibilidades de triunfar el 7 de marzo, a pesar de que entre los premios obtenidos sólo cuenta la copa Volpi del Festival de Venecia como Mejor Actor Protagonista.
Con opciones casi a la par, aunque sería sin duda la apuesta más popular, está George Clooney. En Up in The Air demuestra de nuevo su versatilidad, sin contar con el voto femenino que lo considera "el más guapo del cine". Actúa como un ejecutivo que analiza la soledad desde la perspectiva de un alto cargo y cuya vida cambia al conocer a dos mujeres. A pesar de sus 49 años, y los atractivos papeles de su filmografía, es su primera experiencia como nominado al Oscar. Pudiera ganar, pero en contra juega el hecho de que la película de Jason Reitman no funcionó tan bien en la taquilla estadounidense.
Todo puede pasar
Morgan Freeman y Jeremy Renner son los menos comentados de esta edición. Sin embargo, el veterano actor protagonista de Invictus afronta un "tremendo" papel en el filme de Clint Eastwood; un vehículo para lucirse como siempre. El caso de Renner es parecido al de Carey Mulligan en la categoría de Mejor Actriz. Ambos triunfaron en la última edición de los premios Bafta, pero en los Oscar no parece que correrán la misma suerte. Su trabajo en The Hurt Lockeres encarnar a un psicópata en plena guerra de Irak y logra convencer a la audiencia por la "estupenda" forma de manifestar su maniático deseo de estallar enormes bombas. A pesar de eso, los especialistas creen que deberá esperar una mejor oportunidad... Tal vez sea el año que viene.

En Internet se encuentran un sinfín de foros relacionados con la próxima entrega de los Oscar y sus ganadores y, a pesar de que los expertos no le dan a Morgan Freeman altas probabilidades de hacerse con la estatuilla de Mejor Actor, sus fanáticos han escrito una serie de argumentos a favor: su talento es demostrado en una amplia cantidad de películas donde sólo su imagen transmite experiencia; la interpretación de Mandela en Invictus la realiza con pasión por ser algo que deseaba desde hace tiempo; y porque además la cinta es dirigida por el reconocido Clint Eastwood, con quien consiguió el primer Oscar por Million Dollar Baby(2004).
